One ancient legend about beauty, and a second medieval legend about heroics combined to adorn the hike along the coast at Petra tou Romiou on 19 Jan.; adding an element of culture, as it is customary for this club, which delivers Hiking made Pleasant. The high temperatures and sunshine were uncharacteristic for this time of year, adding an element of hardship; so much so that an ice cream at the end of lunch seemed the most appropriate dessert. The weather was fresh and the turnout large and lively, with regular and newcomer Strollers at the South Slopes. Yet, what made the hike + lunch outing a refreshing experience was the positive disposition of participants, the energy and smiles everyone produced, sufficient to help us sail through the week ahead. A very impressive gathering of Strollers, regulars and newcomers, of all ages, enjoyed the 1st hike of Season 22 at Lythrodontas and the rich lunch after, with the annual treat of Vasilopita. This year, the Vasilopita celebration was a real extravaganza, with not 1, but 5 prizes in 5 hidden lucky coins. Compliments to Nicos, Lydia, Gunnar, Maria, Eliza, Niki, Elena and our host Marinos for donating the gifts for the five winners. Credit to all who shared their good moments from 2024.
