The weather was fresh and the turnout large and lively, with regular and newcomer Strollers at the South Slopes. A very impressive gathering of Strollers, regulars and newcomers, of all ages, enjoyed the 1^st hike of Season 22 at Lythrodontas and the rich lunch after, with the annual treat of Vasilopita. This year, the Vasilopita celebration was a real extravaganza, with not 1, but 5 prizes in 5 hidden lucky coins. Under perfect weather conditions a joyous gathering of Strollers, regular and newcomers in harmony, hiked at Prophitis Elias on 22 December. The meal that followed was a deserved rich treat and conversations were uplifting. Many thanks to Ian who defied a lingering cold to lead the activity! Equally characteristic of the spirit of this club was the presence of Monika and Davidas, in Cyprus for just 1 week, who chose to spend their precious time with us; because Monika had experienced our hospitality years ago, as an Erasmus student! Favoured by the weather, a large and varied gathering of Strollers hiked at Lagoudera on 8 December, and had lots of fun. The meal included treats, as befits the Christmas season, and conversations added the cultural spice that characterizes this club. Strollers of 11 nationalities gathered for the hike of 16 November on Pouziaris, a number seen many times before. What made this stand out was the fact that we welcomed 4 persons in Cyprus for a holiday of just a few days, who chose to partner us in a day’s forest escape and a very rich lunch reward. The weather forecast was discouraging, and proven correct. All the same, all Strollers who had registered were there, well-equipped for rain, enjoyed the hike and the lunch. The weather at Selladi Karamanli on 2 November was the answer to our prayer, following a sunny October: moderate temperature and all-cloudy sky. On top, the leaves of deciduous trees all around changing colours, from green to yellow to red to brown, created a natural palette sufficient to lift the spirits of all Strollers.
