Pre-Christmas lunch treat – Governor’s 16 Dec.

The hike along the coast of Governor’s on 16 December turned into a spectacle of all shades of blue, as the sea and the sky were illustrative of the variable weather conditions. Lunch was a great treat of fish and seafood, which added sparkle to the mood of diners. Best wishes to all for Christmas. Join us on 28 Dec. as we conclude this season at Spilia https://cyprus-strollers.org/activities-description/kourdali-spilia-15-oct/

The hike of two Kilts – 10 Dec.

There are events in life that stick to memory due to some incident far from routine, out of the ordinary. Such was the hike to Fikardou on 10 Dec., which no matter what name we gave it, it goes down in Club History as ‘the hike of two kilts’. We owe this gift of fine culture to Ken and Martin, who put on their kilts and contributed lots of good humour to the day’s proceedings! Compliments also to Antonis for leading the activity and to Petros for the photos. Join us this Saturday here https://cyprus-strollers.org/activities-description/governors-coast-16-dec/ and note, the Season concludes at Spilia on Thursday 28 Dec. https://cyprus-strollers.org/activities-description/kourdali-spilia-15-oct/

Summer hike in December! – Pissouri 2 Dec.

Under continuous sunshine, and a high temperature, a large group of Strollers hiked on Cape Aspro on 2 Dec., along the coast, with a resplendent, tempting, calm sea. Compliments to Antonis for leading the activity and to Anna and Eleni for the photos. Join us next here https://cyprus-strollers.org/activities-description/mahairas-lazanias-and-fikardou-10-dec/ on a hike starting at 10:00, which is 30 min earlier than originally scheduled.

Wind + Rain Cocktail – Prophitis Elias 26 Nov.

In adverse weather conditions, perhaps the worst this Club encountered in its 10 years of weekly hiking, a group of Strollers, which included newcomers, succeeded in concluding the hike on the mountains of Mahairas in a wonderful mood. Participants enjoyed the meal that followed in good humour, with lots of smart exchanges. Remarkably and without exception, everybody felt part of an exceptional day that led to a great personal win. Compliments to Eleni, Anna and Nicos for the photos. Join us next here https://cyprus-strollers.org/activities-description/pissouri-cape-aspro-2-dec/

Yes and Yes – Kourtellorotsos – 18 Nov.

Are the Club members sensitive to the plight of people suffering the atrocities of a war getting more merciless by the day? The answer is Yes, as evidenced by the talks that were exchanged during the activity on 18 Nov. Can the Club members enjoy a well-earned day away from the staleness of city life? The answer is also Yes, as proven by our wonderful time over lunch. One approach does not deny the other. Compliments to Antonis for his caring leadership and to Anna, Elena and Petros for the photos. Join us next here https://cyprus-strollers.org/activities-description/prophitis-elias-kionia-26-nov/

Geology offerings at Platania – 12 Nov.

This Club has a well-established reputation, over its 10 years of life, for offering useful knowledge in small bites, along its hikes. The climb from Platania to Mnimata Piskopon of 12 Nov. was a sparkling example of this distinguishing characteristic: our expert walk leader explained interesting aspects of the area’s geology, as the large gathering was admiring the nearby stratifications. Compliments to Victor for adding this spice, that eased the burden of the climb for all. Compliments also to Elena and Holly for the photos. Merriment well earned – Troodos 4 Nov.

Participants were determined to make the most of the opportunity to hike on Troodos on 4 Nov., regardless of length, or weather, and brought their good spirits and humour to the gathering around the lunch table, thereby turning the day into a well – earned break from the weekly routine. Compliments to Elena for the photos. Join us this Sunday at Platania for what promises to be another day of pure fun https://cyprus-strollers.org/activities-description/platania-mnimata-12-nov/ (note start time is 10:30 am).

No clouds, harder climb – Xylogefyro 29 Oct.

The forecast of no rain drew a very large participation for the Xylogefyro hike on 29 Oct. Strollers marveled at the landscape, which offered interesting nature views and a flowing stream, and enjoyed rich exchanges over lunch. Compliments to Nicos for leading the day. A Shelter of Humanitarian Values – Platres 21 Oct.

There was a very large turnout for the activity at the two waterfalls at Platres on 21 October, and the mood was vibrant. All participants made the most of their time, in the shelter of their favourite Club, in a week that humanitarian values were strongly tarnished, with the bombardment of one hospital and one church. Compliments to Anna for the photos. Join us next here https://cyprus-strollers.org/activities-description/pedoulas-xylogefyro-29-oct/

P. Nigra, but not quite Black – Prodromos 7 Oct.

Humour characterizes the interactions between members of this Club regularly, and sets us apart. The hike of 7 Oct. traversed the northern side of the mountains of Prodromos, and reached a dense forest of majestic black pine, causing the commentary by some members that these trees may be officially named Pinus Nigra, but entirely black they are not; something like the second full moon of August, which even though referred to as blue moon, it is anything but blue, another participant quipped. The day was completed with such sparkle while hiking and also at the table. Compliments to Eleni, Anna and Antonis for the photos.
