In adverse weather conditions, perhaps the worst this Club encountered in its 10 years of weekly hiking, a group of Strollers, which included newcomers, succeeded in concluding the hike on the mountains of Mahairas in a wonderful mood. Participants enjoyed the meal that followed in good humour, with lots of smart exchanges. Remarkably and without exception, everybody felt part of an exceptional day that led to a great personal win. Are the Club members sensitive to the plight of people suffering the atrocities of a war getting more merciless by the day? This Club has a well-established reputation, over its 10 years of life, for offering useful knowledge in small bites, along its hikes. The climb from Platania to Mnimata Piskopon of 12 Nov. was a sparkling example of this distinguishing characteristic: our expert walk leader explained interesting aspects of the area’s geology, as the large gathering was admiring the nearby stratifications. Participants were determined to make the most of the opportunity to hike on Troodos on 4 Nov., regardless of length, or weather, and brought their good spirits and humour to the gathering around the lunch table, thereby turning the day into a well – earned break from the weekly routine.
