Trust in the Club – Kapedes 19 March

In its 9 years of operation, this Club has experienced many instances of expression of trust by its members. What happened on 19 March on the hike to Agios Onoufrios is a marvelous case. The weather forecast was calling for thunderstorms at 90 % probability. Consequently, the Club issued its action plan for risk management, and turnout was impressive. All participants enjoyed thoroughly both the hike and lunch. Compliments to Nicos for leading the day and to Antonis for the photos. Imaginative analogies – Teisia 11 March

The hike of 11 March at Teisia proved therapeutic for all participants, who let their imagination flow, as far as drawing analogies between the three ponds of Kyperounda and the Great Lakes, and also the area’s rare geology and the Great Wall. Where Blue meets Green – Petra Romiou 19 Feb.

On Sunday 19 February, the Cyprus Strollers walked along the coast at Petra tou Romiou. The weather was warmer than expected, the sky clearer than usual, and the gathering much bigger than ever. It was an easy 14 km walk, which attracted more newcomers even than the regular Strollers. The legend of Aphrodite, which would normally dominate such an excursion, faded into the background as Strollers old and new from around the world met and shared the experience, while languages from Arabic to Chinese could be heard along the way – all noting the beauty of the environment, where the sea meets land, where blue meets green, and flowers of yellow, pink and purple dot the terrain. This is the hiking season in Cyprus at its best. So join us for another amazing blue-green experience this Saturday https://cyprus-strollers.org/activities-description/lefkara-dam-25-feb/. Compliments to Dina for this summary and to Antonis and Renee for the photos.

High Energy Strollers – Kakokefalos 11 Feb.

The large group of Strollers on Kakokefalos on 11 February were oozing vitality. We hiked at near zero temperatures, along a demanding uphill trail, yet our pace was energetic, and participants overflowed with determination, which turned into cheer over lunch. So much so, that the bad name of Kakokefalos seemed on the day rather unfair. Compliments to Antonis for his leadership, and to Anna for the photos. Lavish Cape – 4 Feb.

The excursion of 4 February to Cape Greco stands out as a lavish experience for the large group of Strollers from 10 nationalities who, once more, defied the weather forecast. Rewards were plentiful; aside the good weather and calm sea, we marveled at some 10 different species of flowers, welcomed back Renee (after 4 years out of Cyprus) and exchanged mind stretching conversations over lunch. Compliments to Nicos for leading the day and to Antonis and Anna for the photos. Join us next here https://cyprus-strollers.org/activities-description/mandra-kampiou-picnic-site-kakokefalos-11-feb/

Fresh approach to well-visited places – Galata 29 Jan.

The very large gathering of Strollers at Galata and Kakopetria, two popular villages, opened up and took in a sequence of experiences; from a thorough description of the iconography of two 16 c. churches on the Unesco heritage list, to the mesmerizing rich flow of river Clarios, and the rewarding meal. Compliments to Elena for sharing her photos. Join us next here https://cyprus-strollers.org/activities-description/cape-greco-konnos-bay-4-feb/

Massive turnout – 21 Jan. Mandra

Aided by the forecast of no rain, everybody enjoyed the hike around Mandra Kampiou, in a pine forest, crossing streams, stopping at ruins and chatting. Pipis hills 7 Jan. 2023

The first walk of 2023 to start off Cyprus Strollers season 18 was a gentle return to hiking after the Christmas and New Year’s break.

The large group of hikers bore the well-known Strollers signature: multiple nationalities, all ages. In perfect weather, we walked along wide trails with the hills of Larnaca in the distance on the one side and pine forests on the other, mixing beautiful views with easy conversation as veteran Strollers got to know newcomers.

As always, the day’s outing ended with a generous spread of Cyprus meze favourites for all taste preferences, before members shared their thoughts about the joys, benefits and privileges of experiencing nature and enjoying such an abundant meal in good company.

Compliments to Dina for this summary and to Anna for the photos. Join us on 14 Jan. to share the Club’s Vasilopita https://cyprus-strollers.org/activities-description/lythrodontas-2-hikes-saturday-14-january-2023/
