Therapeutic Lythrodontas – 16 Jan.

A very large gathering of Strollers, spread across all age groups, including regulars, members who were making a comeback and first-timers, defied a strong wind and hiked Aetomoutti and Ithaca on 16 January, in high spirits: such is the therapeutic impact of a Club committed to ‘hiking made pleasant’. There was also camaraderie on display, with Anna losing one glove, and Panayiotis further back in the line picking it up. Compliments also to our photographers Yulia, Franco, Yannis and Anna. Join us on 22 Jan at Delikipos and register on time for the Vasilopita treat https://cyprus-strollers.org/activities-description/delikipos-sat-22-jan/

Start of Season 16 – Pipis 8 Jan.

On a splendid day, weather-wise, a cheerful group of Strollers hiked on Pipis, led by Angelos, on 8 January. This marked the start of the 16th consecutive season of steady weekly activities for the Club: not a small feat. Join us on 16 Jan. for the hike and vasilopita https://cyprus-strollers.org/activities-description/lythrodontas-2-hikes-sunday-16-jan/

All Shades of Blue – Governor’s 18 Dec.

The hike along the coast of Governor’s on 18 December turned into a spectacle of all shades of blue, as the sea and the sky were illustrative of the variable weather conditions. Let the photos, compliments of Dorothea and Yannis reveal the sensations experienced. Lunch was a great treat of fish and seafood, which added sparkle to the moods of diners, epitomized by the good humour of Giannis, who put on a most appropriate shirt for the occasion. Best wishes to all for the holiday period. Join us on 8 January as we commence the January – May 2022 season.

Celebrating our Mountains – Mahairas 12 Dec.

One of the prettiest hikes was our destination on 12 December; it combined visit to a religious treasure, climb down to the springs of Pedieos river, and stops at 2 picturesque, well preserved villages, Lazanias and Fikardou. Strollers fittingly celebrated the International Mountain Day (11 Dec.) and exchanged fond reflections over an impressive buffet that followed. Compliments to Antonis for leading this event and to Yulia and Anna for the photos. Join us on 18 Dec. on a coastal hike https://cyprus-strollers.org/activities-description/governors-coast-18-dec/

Cloudy sky and Shiny faces – Xylogefyro 4 Dec.

All Strollers on the hike at Xylogefyro on 4 December see no disparity in the title statement. Under an all cloudy sky, and moderate temperatures, a difficult walk was made to look rather easy. A wow accomplishment and compliments to all contributors around the lunch table, for their cultural stories. Seeing is believing, so join us on 12 Dec. at Mahairas https://cyprus-strollers.org/activities-description/mahairas-lazanias-fikardou-12-dec/. Special thanks to Nicos for leading this activity, and to Antonis, Yannis and Anna for the photos.

Hiking with Music – Teisia 28 Nov.

A strong and varied group hiked at Teisia on 28 November, with a clear sky and enticing temperatures. Participants welcomed Evita, who chose to hike while airing her choice of music, and some even placed their requests. That’s life with The Cyprus Strollers, the club with a fresh beat. Compliments to Gunnar for leading the activity and to Anna for the photos. Join us on 4 Dec. at Xylogefyro https://cyprus-strollers.org/activities-description/pedoulas-xylogefyro-4-dec/

Unforgettable Rain – Kionia 20 Nov.

The impressive collection of experiences Strollers gathered on 20 November, while hiking at Kionia, was summarized in a few splendid words by Varnavas. When we were all into dry clothes, enjoying a superb meal, his spontaneous remarks were “if it wasn’t for the rain over the closing 45 minutes of hiking, we would risk forgetting what now has become an unforgettable event”. Compliments to Antonis for leading the day and to Dimitris, Antonia, Paola, Nana and Elena for the photos. Join us on 28 Nov. at Teisia https://cyprus-strollers.org/activities-description/madari-teisia-28-nov/

Autumn weather, at last – Mnimata Piskopon 14 Nov.

On 14 November the Club conducted a climb to Mnimata Piskopon for the first time in its history of 15 seasons. Participants thoroughly enjoyed the day, aided by the weather befitting the season. Curious as to what the hike’s name means? Look out for our return hike to this destination next year, to find out. Can’t wait for this long? Join us on our next event here https://cyprus-strollers.org/activities-description/kionia-prophitis-elias-20-nov/. Compliments to Dimitris, Anna, Nana and Antonis for the photos.

Climate concerns – Kourtellorotsos 6 Nov.

What do you call the weather, when it is 6 November, at altitude above 1000 m, temperature is hovering around 25 centigrade, and there is not a cloud above? This was one main discussion point among the Strollers on Kourtellorotsos this Saturday. Compliments to Cristina for inviting participants during a break to walk some extra 25 m to admire a panoramic view. Compliments to Yulia, Maria, Anna, Antonis and Franco for the photos. Join us on 14 Nov. at Platania https://cyprus-strollers.org/activities-description/platania-mnimata-piskopon-14-nov/

Daft weather, no complaints

A large gathering of Cyprus Strollers rose beyond the daft weather forecasts and took the challenge of a double bill of hikes at Amiantos on 31 October. It turned out that the forecast of the day before, of a very rainy day, resulted in each of us packing the boot of our car with a full set of rain gear; only for it to remain there. Participants thoroughly enjoyed the day, and the only water we came across, in the river stream of Loumata Aeton. Compliments to Antonis for leading this excursion and to Yulia, Sevag and Anna for the photos. Join us on 6 Nov. at Panagia Araka https://cyprus-strollers.org/activities-description/panagia-araka-kourtellorotsos-6-nov/
