There was a new record attendance for the Cyprus Strollers on Sunday 8 March. We walked a circular trail from Konnos bay to Cape Greco and then a linear trail to the cave of Cyclop. The weather was sunny, the coastline inviting, our spirits cheerful all along and the picnic invigorating. Compliments to Amanda and Christos for the photos.

An impressive turnout of Strollers at Platania, 28 Feb.
Saturday 28 February was a shiny day and a record number of Strollers turned up for the hike from Kakopetria/ Platania towards Spilia. The forest of pine, strawberry and golden oak trees was celebrating the imminent advent of Spring (officially 1st March) with us. Compliments to Andriani for the photos.
Strollers enjoyed Pedieos river with plenty of flow, 21 Feb.
All-weather Strollers at Adelphi forest, 14 Feb.
An energetic group of Cyprus Strollers hiked in Adelphi forest on Saturday 14 February. Despite the weather forecast which was calling for certain rain throughout, we experienced only light rain for some of the time, and our raincoats provided perfect protection. Among the several delights on our path were orchids, the almond trees in full bloom, the first blooming cyclamen and a small waterfall, consequent of the heavy rain of this season. Lunch at Forviotissa taverna in Asinou, by the fireplace, at the end, was an excellent reward.
Kindly note a change of date for next week’s activity, which is brought forward by one day; the hike at Pedieos river banks in Nicosia will take place on Saturday 21 Feb. instead of the Sunday. This will let people free to attend the Limassol carnival parade on 22 Feb., as requested.
At last, a white stroll, Troodos 8 Feb.
It was 3rd time lucky for the Cyprus Strollers on the Artemis trail, on Troodos, on Sunday 8 February. This specific hike was called off twice already in 2015, due to snowfalls and hazardous road access. We walked in good weather conditions, which started sunny and turned cloudy, with some fog, but no rain. The trail was dry on the south side, which got more sunshine since the last snowfall, but there was snow on the north side, which added an unusual touch, but also slowed us down. Lunch was an excellent value for money at Louis taverna in Prodromos.
A fulfilling stroll along Larnaca’s new coastal Promenade, 31 Jan.
Larnaca never looked bigger than now, with its long awaited coastal Promenade complete, linking Makenzy on the west with Phinikoudes on the east. The Cyprus Strollers walk of 31 January was a fulfilling experience, in mild winter weather conditions, and included a visit to the 9th century church of Saint Lazarus and refreshments at Cafe Nero to wrap up the pleasant experience. No, the red carpet was not laid out for the Strollers. See you all on 8 Feb. at Troodos.
Change of Venue for Saturday 31 January!
The Cyprus Strollers announce a change of plan. The Saturday 31 January excursion will take place at Larnaca and involves an afternoon stroll from Makenzy to Phinikoudes and back, all along the coast. Times and other details apply as announced for 8 Feb. in “Activities Description”. The scheduled outing to Troodos is moved to 8 Feb.
In other words, we are swapping between the 31 Jan. and 8 Feb. activities. The weather at time of writing calls for a windy but most probably dry day in Larnaca on 31 Jan. By contrast, there has been snowfall on Troodos on Friday morning; consequently all roads to Troodos require snow chains; more snow is forecast for tomorrow morning.
See you at Larnaca on 31 Jan. and let us hope for milder weather conditions on Troodos for 8 Feb. The same times and other details for Artemis, Troodos will apply on 8 Feb., as published for 31 Jan. in “Activities Description”.
A Splendid Stroll in Athalassa, 25 Jan.
We Thank God for a Marvelous Hike at Doxa si o Theos, 17 Jan.
A wonderful group of Cyprus Strollers, made up of 4 nationalities, defied the weather forecast (which was announcing a 50% probability for rain), and hiked on Madari mountain on 17 January. We set off at Doxa si o Theos (which literally translates to Thank God), passed Moutti tis Horas and reached Selladi Karamanli. Throughout the 3 1/2 hours hike the trail was clear of snow, and the sky was part sunny, part cloudy, without a drop of rain. Lunch at Kyperia taverna in Kyperounda was the climax we deserved, at the end. Compliments to Andriani for the photos.
