An Enriching Experience – Galata-Kakopetria outing 7 Feb.

An all-time record number of Strollers, from 10 countries on 4 continents turned up for the excursion to Galata and Kakopetria on Sunday 7 February. The focus of interest were the 7 Byzantine churches, some of them on the World Heritage list, which the group visited. Strollers succeeded in securing access inside some of the churches and admired their murals, icons and other treasures of faith. There were more rewards in store: the sunny sky, the idyllic landscape, with a good part of the walk alongside streams of river Clarios, the rich vegetation, as a consequence of the river crossing the two villages flowing all year round, the visit to Old Kakopetria, and a rich lunch. A Relaxing Stroll in Athalassa Park, 30 Jan.

The good weather drew a large group of Strollers, some for the first time, to the stroll in Athalassa park, in the outskirts of Nicosia, on Saturday 30 January. Compliments to Gerard for leading this outing. Join us on 7 Feb. at Galata.

Spirits Flowing High, Despite Cold – Larnaca seaside stroll, 24 Jan.

It was a most memorable outing, in which the warmth which flowed from the inside prevailed over the very cold temperatures outside. The Cyprus Strollers bonding and cheer was prevalent in several ways on Sunday 24 January, on the stroll along the sea front in the city of Larnaca; temperatures rose high from the start, on the initiative of Koula, who brought the Vasilopitta, which we all shared, with a wish for many blessed activities in 2016; everybody gave a special cheer for Marina, who saw her luck delivering promises, as she found the coin hidden in the cake; our walk leader offered the group the gift of a visit inside the castle, along our way; and then there was nothing stopping the child in us, as we came across the new gym instruments installed on the pavement in Phinikoudes. A big cheer to Koula, Patricia and all participants, for your contribution in turning an otherwise ordinary stroll into an extraordinary experience. Join us on 30 Jan. at Athalassa.

A Pleasant Hike, in Sunny Weather – Pipis hills, 16 Jan.

A sunny weather encouraged a very large turnout for the hike around Pipis hills on Saturday 16 January. The Strollers welcomed new participants, 3 dogs and enjoyed the energetic climbing, the several splendid views and spirited conversations. Compliments to Angelos for expert leadership and the photos. A Poetic Start to 2016 – Oroklini coastal hike, 10 Jan.

A very large gathering of Strollers walked along the coast, from Oroklini to Dhekelia and back on 10 Jan.; in spring weather, with the sun shining, the sea calm, sea gulls flying around, and no wind; it was a wonderful occasion to burn some of the festive season extra calories, further inspired by the surprise reading of some poetry by the walk leader, which sparked inspiring conversations on the way; the outing was concluded with a delicious meal at a fish restaurant. The Cyprus Strollers bid Jiawei farewell, on his last walk, before his return to China. Compliments to Teresa, Amanda and Alex for the photos. Join us at Pipis on Sat. 16 Jan.

Best wishes to you, for health, joy and prosperity in 2016. The Cyprus Strollers have uploaded the Schedule for the new season January – May 2016, which you are invited to visit and download. An Enlightening Stroll in Old Nicosia – 20 Dec. 2015

A large group of Strollers were led by Mary to unexplored parts of Old Nicosia and Kaimakli, on a sunny Sunday 20 December 2015. This was the last outing for 2015, and its cultural aspect made it all the more memorable. Compliments to Mary for a well researched and guided stroll, and to Amanda for sharing her photos. A Definitively Memorable Outing – Larnaca Salt Lake Sat. 12 Dec.

The Cyprus Strollers participating in the outing of Saturday 12 December around the Larnaca Salt Lake had a truly memorable experience, which words and pictures cannot justly describe. About 15 min from start rain started, and we walked through some 15 min of heavy rain; this was quite a test, which forced everybody to bring out their personal best; including the walk leader, who offered a helping hand through a slippery muddy path. The delight of successfully stretching our limits was evident in the sparkling faces all around, throughout the rest of the hike. A rich meal, in which the goldfish was about the only thing missing frrom our plates, at Monte Carlo fish restaurant on the seafront, was a well deserved reward for all. Compliments to Efi, Marina and Hara for sharing their photos. Join us on Sunday 20 December at Old Nicosia, for the ultimate stroll of 2015.

A Fascinating Excursion – Asinou 6 Dec.

There was no exception this week: the Cyprus Strollers welcomed new participants, again. Yet, it was exciting to greet Marina, the youngest member, barely 2 years old, who got a lift from daddy. The excursion on Sunday 6 December was fascinating in all respects; the day was sunny and clear, enabling views to the north coast; attendance was large; the hike was challenging, in Adelphi forest, mainly of pine trees; and the meal was a deserved reward for all. Divine pleasures on Pedieos gorge – Mahairas monastery hike, 28 Nov.

There was a large turnout, including several newcomers, on Saturday 28 November, on a sunny outing along Pedieos gorge to Mahairas monastery. Strollers discovered untapped strengths and enjoyed the 4-hours hike, the scenery of pine and other trees, the cyclamen flowers hiding under the trees, as well as our rich conversations and the monastery visit.
